“Ex Vida†from Santiago Cohen – 3
- Continuing with the epic autobiographical story of Santiago Cohen, this is part 3 of a 1000 picture project. The piece is, to me, a pure work of art. A strong, tightly knit story with images which are almost incandescent in their glowing color. I encourage you to look carefully by enlarging the frames and reading what Santiago has written.

This is WONDERFUL – thank you Michael – now I digress -
How Santiago Cohen possibly saved my life: I was working with Santiago at the Ink Tank. He invited me to Video Club (pronounced ‘VEE-dee-oh Club’) at his apartment that evening. I went. We, Santiago, myself and a few friends, watched horror movies with special attention to repeated viewings of special effects. That evening I returned to the apartment I was staying in on 10th Street. I was sleeping on the couch in the living room while my friends were in Canada. While I was out at Video Club the ceiling in the living room of this apartment had collapsed – huge thick slabs of plaster, thicker than a Sicilian pizza, had crashed to the floor and the largest, heaviest slabs were ON THE COUCH. I do not sleep wearing a helmet.
Thank you Santiago for possibly saving my life.

I have the power of saving lives Tom… I’m glad I did that to you.
By the way we called it the “Gentlemen of Leisure Club†because I was the only friend, then, with a VCR. And we were all unemployed…
