Anita

- Here’s a Milt Kahl scene of Anita from 101 Dalmatians. These are the extremes without inbetweens. In the scene, Anita is humming along with the tune Roger is playing, then says “What clever . . .” She finishes with, “. . . lyrics,” in the next scene.

The image at the left comes from Mark Mayerson‘s excellent breakdown Mosaic of this film.

This is another scene graciously on loan to me from Lou Scarborough, and I couldn’t be more appreciative and thankful.

Wonderful stuff. It’s been so long ago. Wasn’t Iwao Takamoto assisting Milt at this time? Iwao was an awesome draftsman in his own right, and had the chops to follow up Kahl. I wish I could be sure.

I love frames 43-59, when she giggles, extremely natural.

Geez, now that’s good animation. Sadly, this is where it stopped.

Not to besmirch Pencil Test Depot, but this is one of the reasons why I love your site so much. Masterful animation like this needs to be seen drawing by drawing to be fully understood by new animators, and you go to the trouble of providing it for us.

Your efforts to do so are very truly appreciated.

So amazing. I’m most impressed at how the head volume stays perfectly consistent the entire time, it really sells all three dimensions.
