Dumbo Storyboard Sketches – recap
I’ve spent a lot of recent posts writing about the animation of some of the earlier features. I thought I’d give a little focus on the storyboard of Dumbo. The variety and styles of the images is impressive. I’ve culled a lot of storyboard drawings from various sources and present in somewhat chronological order.
This was the first feature Bill Peet worked on. You can see his entire “Dumbo washing” sequence storyboard here.

I need to see this movie all over again for what ever the reason I don’t remember Dumbo standing next to a poster of bid dad Jumbo
The artwork is impressive and inspiring

Stephen, Jumbo does not, in fact, show up in the film. He’s only mentioned in passing early in the film when the work refers to Dumbo’s mother as “Mrs. Jumbo.”

Love the artwork. Although I love the original Dumbo, part of me wishes the film could have been made with more of Bill Peet’s style incorporated into the film. A ‘stylized’ version of Dumbo would have been impressive.

Dumbo – though a good movie – is not one of my favorites but my there is a whole lot of genius in that artwork. There’s something about the drawing of the mother monkey that I find really striking.
I don’t know why but I never found Timothy the mouse that interesting, maybe I would have liked him better if he had remained a bird.

Right now it appears like Expression Engine is the top blogging platform available right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you are using on your blog?
