Raggedy Drafts – 1 / seq. 2
- I received a request to post the drafts to Raggedy Ann & Andy. I’ll post all that I have. These come from a second and more complete group. The format changed from the traditional Disney formula (8½ x 14 vertical) to this (8½ x 14 horizontal). There’s much more info here.
However, let’s start with a great Corny Cole drawing of the Greedy, a breathing, living taffy pit. Done on 16×17 drawing paper, punched, with a BIC pen.
The Drafts – seq. 2.1 The dolls come to life
seq. 2.2 – Big news

Thanks for the quick service. I carried the John Canemaker book [The Animated Raggedy Ann and Andy] around with me when it came out. It’s been described as one of the most valuable records of an animated feature production, from licensed property to finished product.
But is there anything in it you disagree with?
Williams was said to be frustrated with the amount of detail in designs like the Cole taffy pit, as the animators wouldn’t have time to reproduce it.

Wow, great reference material. Thanks Michael. Corny’s drawings for this film are insane. Canemaker’s book is full of them. All done in ink!
