Tytla’s Snow White

- Here are a couple of drawings by Bill Tytla done for Snow White. They’re, all three, beautiful drawings, and I enjoy looking at them. They’re worth posting.

A wonderful drawing of Grumpy warning Snow White to look out for strangers.

Dopey blows water out his ears.

Here’s a link to another post I did on this.

Beautiful! The 2nd Grumpy drawing in particular is a perfect example (to me) of force vectors applied upon a character’s form without fussing over design style. Yet those quick strokes capture Grumpy’s personality and inner thought/reaction.

Right you are, John. Nice point. Check back next Monday. I’ll have a lot of roughs from Tytla’s Fantasia animation.

Great work – thanks for posting them. There’s something about his pencil line – it’s as sharp as a razor. His characters seem to have more psychological weight than Moore’s (although I love his work too!)

I agree with John. The dwarfs blow away most of everything that came before. What a huge leap they made in such a short time.

I also love the numbering on that middle drawing: “68 and a half”! Possibly for a stagger effect (?)

Makes me feel better about some of my own charts.

Great anatomy in that finger! Are these original drawings that you own?
