Daydreams
- The Alice In Wonderland dvd contains a storyboard sequence of Alice daydreaming in the park. This sequence didn’t make it to the film (for good reason), but they’ve re-assembled it for the dvd. I’ve taken some frame grabs to show off the drawings. They’re on screen for such a short time.
My favorite’s the last.

Funny how the best one is the simplest… I agree! Honestly, several of these drawings feel very clumsy to me, but I love the shots of the clouds and trees, and that incredible little black and white with the swan. Yikes, wish I could swing a pencil that way!

Would that last be Joe Grant’s? It is the best, as drawing. Total appeal and readability, beautiful!
It’s true, some of the others look pretty crude. But they were concentrating on ideas for this sequence, not merely polished pictures.
Mind you I feel exactly the same way looking at them-judging which are “good”-and I simultaneously have to pinch myself for it. A little.
