Iced out
I was able to switch up my plans to see FROZEN in a theater. It hurt badly.I’s the worst Disney feature I’ve seen in ages. I won’t get into it, but trust mean on this one. It’s a horrible attempt to make a long-form feature. I had to walk out at the 2/3 mark. The drawing wasn’t all that was wrong. Acting, coloring, songs. It’s a mess. I’ll go a little deeper (but not by much) at another time. See the Mayazaki film a second time instead.
Here’s to something better – anything,
Michael

What do you mean by the “drawing wasn’t all that was wrong?” It’s a CG feature. There are no drawings.

I assume Michael means that the character design and the backgrounds/production design were not that bad.
Speaking for myself as a CG animator with a traditional background, when animating cartoony character animation in CG I often think of the poses or even each individual frame as a drawing, even though they’re not. I suppose the concept is unshakable if you first start out drawing 2D animation.

You were ill over the weekend.
Why would you subject yourself to this.

Please let people give the film a chance. Don’t tell them to go see something else INSTEAD. I mean, It’s not bad you recommend another film, but let people give Frozen a chance.
From what I’ve seen so far I think Disney fans will love it. But I guess you have your reasons…

“It’s a CG feature. There are no drawings.”
Isn’t the modelling stage of CGI a type of drawing ? Or is it more like sculpture nowadays, since programs like ZBrush took over from wire frame construction ?

I haven’t seen this film, but I’m sorry that you didn’t like it too much. Can’t wait for an analysis on the film’s flaws.

Trust you on this unexplained opinion? I think people should see the film for themselves before deciding not to see it at all.

I wonder if you have heard about Isao Takahata’s upcoming “Tale of Princess Kaguya” by any chance? Or for that matter, any of Rene Laloux’ animated features? (Fantastic Planet and Metal Men of Gandahar)

Worst Disney feature in ages ? Same group as Chicken Little, Dinosaur, Black Cauldron, and The Wild ?
I highly doubt it mate.
You say that the songs are awful but judging by a short leak of the songs online, they sound amazing.
So far I think that your tastebuds need adjusting. But come 27th Nov, I hope that you’re very wrong.

I couldn’t understand how they came up with that terrible snow man design until I realized something. The traditional design of a snow man is so standardized that you can’t claim exclusive ownership of it. For Frozen they created a snow man that looked nothing like a traditional snow man so it could be an exclusive property, and the result is that it looks terrible. I have no inside knowledge, but I guarantee you that the creative people held their noses and did bad work on orders to do bad work from on high.

After several years of detailed writing on this blog, you’ve more than earned a “trust me on this” or two.
It goes without saying that everyone won’t agree with you all of the time, but anyone who pays attention should have a firm grasp on the kind of work you would or wouldn’t recommend.

Well, I’m actually not expecting to much from that movie.
Thanks for the advice. That marketing euphoria /for any of the past movies/ annoy me a lot.

Sorry, Michael.
I don’t trust you on this one. As someone who feels that the Hubleys and Tissa David are the acme of animation, I’m not sure you’re the best person to weigh in on a current Disney film. You may very well be right, but I thought “Tangled” was wonderful, and the online clips of “Frozen’ belie your claim that the coloring and design are poor. So far, the character animation hasn’t impressed me; still, I’ll be first in line to check this one out myself.

Throughout the great design of things you get a B- with regard to effort. Where you confused me personally was first in the particulars. As it is said, the devil is in the details… And that could not be much more true in this article. Having said that, let me inform you what did deliver the results. Your article (parts of it) is pretty engaging which is probably why I am taking the effort in order to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Second, despite the fact that I can certainly notice a jumps in reasoning you come up with, I am definitely not convinced of how you seem to connect your ideas which help to make the final result. For now I shall subscribe to your point but trust in the future you actually connect the dots better.

Mom nodded her head, lying on the bed, biting her lip as she slowly rubbed at her pussy lips, listening to her youngest daughter’s breathy, virginal curiosity. Mom’s breasts jiggled so invitingly while Melody shifted.
